Policy Overview

We want to support a healthy, trustworthy, and transparent Sponsored Solutions ecosystem that works for both customers and sellers. The policy that follows helps you as a seller to promote your products and align with our Sponsored Solutions policies listed below. This policy is designed not only to encourage compliance with local laws but also to ensure a positive experience for both customers and sellers.

Lazada reserves the right to amend this policy to comply with any changes to local laws and regulations, changes in the business environment, or at its sole and absolute discretion without prior notice, to the extent permitted by applicable laws. Changes to this policy may be announced by posting updates.

Your use of Sponsored Solutions feature shall be governed by the Sponsored Solutions Terms and Conditions.

Promotion Guidelines

These are the guidelines that sellers will need to adhere to while paying to promote their products. Sellers are required to align with our promotion guidelines as listed below. These policies are designed not only to abide by laws but to ensure a positive experience for both customers and sellers.

1. We do not allow dishonest behavior

At Lazada, we believe in Trust Makes Everything Simple. Be real and be honest – we do not allow the sellers to use the promotion of products or services to enable dishonest behavior.

Examples (but not limited to):

  1. Sellers are not allowed to promote hacking software or instructions;

  2. Sellers are not allowed to promote services designed to artificially inflate ad or website traffic;

  3. Sellers are not allowed to promote the sale of fake documents and related services

  4. Sellers need to honor the prices as advertised in the promotion

Products that do not abide by these guidelines will be removed from our platform. Sellers who do not abide by these guidelines will be issued up to 48 non-compliance points, as per our existing policies in Lazada Community Policies.

2. We do not allow abusing of the network

We want promoted products to be useful, relevant, and safe for our customers. Sellers are not allowed to promote products or post content that attempts to circumvent our advertisement review processes.

Examples (but not limited to):

  1. Sellers are not allowed to promote content that contains malware;

  2. Sellers are not allowed to use any form of techniques to hide the true destination that
    customers are directed to;

  3. Sellers are not allowed to promote products with URLs that direct customers to other websites
    or towards offline transactions;

  4. Sellers are not allowed to manipulate in any way to circumvent our policy review systems; and

  5. Sellers are not allowed to share their contact information on the site of the promoted product, or on any of their product display pages or store page.

Products that do not abide by these guidelines will be removed from our platform. Sellers who do not abide by these guidelines will be issued up to 48 non-compliance points, as per our existing policies in Lazada Community Policies.

3. We do not allow misrepresentation

We want our customers to trust the promoted products on our platform, so we strive to ensure advertisements are clear and honest so our customers can make informed purchase decisions. We strictly do not allow advertisements that deceive customers by excluding relevant product information or providing misleading information about products, services, or businesses.

Examples (but not limited to):

  1. Sellers are not allowed to mislead customers into thinking they are someone else;

  2. Sellers are not allowed to omit any relevant information of the promoted product;

  3. Sellers are not allowed to make offers that aren't available;

  4. Sellers are not allowed to make misleading or unrealistic claims regarding weight loss or
    financial gain;

  5. Sellers are not allowed to be collecting donations under pretenses;

  6. Sellers are not allowed to engage in "phishing" or falsely purporting to be a reputable company to get users to part with valuable personal or financial information;

  7. Sellers may use the phrase “find me on Lazada” following our trademark guidelines, but sellers are not allowed to use “Lazada” or refer to Lazada (the corporation, brand, or site) in their promoted product pages, product display pages, or store page; and

  8. Sellers are not allowed to imply affiliation with or an endorsement by Lazada to mislead
    customers.

Products that do not abide by these guidelines will be removed from our platform. Sellers who do not abide by these guidelines will experience policy consequences as listed under Lazada Community Policies

4. We do not allow inappropriate content

At Lazada, we value diversity and encourage positive sharing of content between customers and
sellers. We stand by our Lazada Community Policies and do not encourage the use of content that promotes hatred, intolerance, discrimination, or violence. Culturally sensitive, nationalism, religions, or any other topics that are not allowed in the local countries are also prohibited.

Examples (but not limited to):

  1. Products and/or corresponding content that is explicitly or suggestively sexual;

  2. Products and/or corresponding content that indicates or even suggest racial discrimination;

  3. Products and/or corresponding content that promotes hate group paraphernalia or contains graphic crime scene or accident images, cruelty to animals, murder, self-harm, extortion, or blackmail; and

  4. Abusive language and profanities should not be used on promoted product pages.

Products that do not abide by these guidelines will be removed from our platform. Sellers who do not abide by these guidelines will be issued up to 16 non-compliance points, as per our existing policies in Lazada Community Policies. Lazada reserves the right to remove any product for any reason.

In the event that Lazada is penalized by the relevant government agency because of your violation of these guidelines or any applicable law or regulation, Seller agrees that Lazada may deduct said amount from any amount due to the Seller which is in the possession of Lazada.

Sponsored Solutions Rejection Reason Illustration and Examples

This article provides illustrations and examples based on sponsored solution rejection reasons that appear on the seller center with the aim to help sellers have a better understanding of why their creatives are rejected and campaigns are paused. Sellers are expected to make improvements based on the provided guidelines as we continue to create a safe, trustworthy, and positive environment for all users on the platform.

Exaggeration & Unreal Claims

· Structure or function claims

Statements that describe the effect of a dietary supplement may have on the structure or function of the body are not allowed.

  • “Calcium builds strong bones” is allowed.

  • “Energy black germanium radiation protects bodybuilding weight loss” is not allowed.

  • Diseases claims

  • Claims to diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat, heal, or prevent disease/symptoms/pain are not allowed.

·Disease claims require prior approval by FDA and may be made only for products that are approved drug products or for foods under separate legal provisions that apply to claims called "health claims”.

  • Disease including but not limited to Blindness, Cancer, Heart disease, Kidney disease, Cataract, Drug addiction Deafness, Diabetes, Epilepsy or fits, Hypertension, Insanity, Kidney diseases., Leprosy, Menstrual disorders, Paralysis, Tuberculosis, Sexual function, Infertility, Impotency, Frigidity, Conception and pregnancy.

·Exaggeration/misleading claims

Claims that portray unrealistic/misleading statements to entice the user with improbable results (even if the result is possible) as the likely outcome that a user can expect.

Examples of not allowed

  • “instant weight loss pill”

  • “Instant whitening result”

  • “exaggerated before and after result”

Offline Transaction (Sharing of contact info)

· To prevent from potential fraudulent activity, we do not allow any kind of personal contacts like phone numbers, email, other platform ids, disclosure of competitor names/logos, QR codes, and sharing of any external link is prohibited.

Absolute Claims / Absolutize

· Containing superlative subjective terms that claim the product as the best without scientific or technical evidence.

Examples of words not allowed to be used in absolute claims

  • World Best

  • No.1

  • Top 1 brand

  • Guarantee effective

  • Any kind of language/image/icon imply “No.1” or “guarantee” results.

Click baiting

· Misleading keywords or images related to either gibberish or sexually suggestive content in order
to lure traffic.

Below are violating examples that selling bracelets and necklaces but using bikini images to lure traffic.

Aesthetic Value (Disease, Ugly Image)

· Images with low aesthetic; images that are uncomfortable or disturbing to be seen.

Inaccurate Description

· Containing misleading information; information in the description does not match the specs and/or
nature of the product.

Use of public figures/TV programs image

· Containing a presence of a public figure and/or television program image in the form of images and/or words.

Unfair Competition

· Comparative of one product with other competing brands by using wordings or illustrations that caused defamation towards competitor brands are not allowed.

Sexual Content

· Contents that do not violate obscenity policy but are inappropriate to be shown on the platform. For obscenity policy, please refer to here.

Examples of scenarios that are most commonly seen (but not limited to)

  • Side exposure of breasts

  • Large exposure of buttocks

  • Zoom in / Focus on private areas

  • Bottom-up angles, top-down angles, or upskirt images

  • Transparent clothes showing private parts

  • Implying nudity although no private parts are shown

  • Implying any kind of sexual activity

  • Toys or decorations shared in a sexual context

  • Unknown intention of low-quality images in bedding/bathroom environments
