As part of Lazada’s ongoing compliance policy, we continue to work closely with Apple and Google to ensure that all our platform’s product assortment are in line with the policies of iPhone Operating System (iOS) and Google Play In-App purchase (commonly known as Apple App Store and Google Play App Store) policy, respectively.
We would like to bring to your attention that all Digital Games and Software-related assortment will no longer be made available to all Apple iPhone users starting February 24, 2020. This change will only take effect on the Lazada buyer mobile app downloaded on the Apple App Store.
Your existing Digital Games and Software SKUs will continue to be listed on our Lazada website.
Definition of Digital Games and Software SKUs
Digital Games and Software SKUs are any products that are fulfilled digitally in the form of a code/voucher/credit that support in-game, in-app purchases (e.g. Steam, Mobile Legends, Blizzard Credit, Tinder, Netflix subscriptions) and for software: Digital version or activation keys for software (e.g. Adobe, Microsoft Office Keys).
Apple or iPhone Operating System (iOS) In-App Policy limitation
Apple Developer Policy prohibits the sale of SKUs which allow iOS users to use a purchasing method other than “in-app purchase”. Therefore, Lazada must remove SKUs which allow iOS users to use a purchasing method other than “in-app purchase”.
Example:
Candy Crush Lives are purchased through in-app purchase. Therefore Lazada CANNOT sell gaming credits or lives for Candy Crush.
Grab Credits are NOT purchased through in-app purchase. Therefore Lazada CAN sell Grab Credits.
What are in-app purchases?
Purchases made by users to unlock features or functionality within an app.
How does this limitation impact me as a seller with Digital Goods and Software SKUs?
- The sellers SKUs will not be available to customers on all mobile devices that is running iOS. All other platforms remain the same.
- If you are selling other items, this will not be removed, this policy applied only to Digital games and software SKUs. All other assortment remains status quo.

(A) Allow users to further progress in an App? (e.g. by consuming gems or lives within that App)
(B) Unlock functionality of an App? (e.g. by unlocking a premium feature for that App)
(C) Allow users to subscribe to content within an App? (e.g. a 1 year subscription to an App which gives access to a music catalogue?)
- IF NO for ALL of (A), (B) or (C), item will NOT BE REMOVE
- IF YES for (A), (B) OR (C), proceed to question 3
IF NO, item will NOT BE REMOVE
