Policy Overview

We want to support a healthy, trustworthy, and transparent Sponsored Solutions ecosystem that works for both customers and sellers. The policy that follows helps you as a seller to promote your products and align with our Sponsored Solutions policies listed below. This policy is designed not only to encourage compliance with local laws but also to ensure a positive experience for both customers and sellers.

Lazada reserves the right to amend this policy to comply with any changes to local laws and regulations, changes in the business environment, or at its sole and absolute discretion without prior notice, to the extent permitted by applicable laws. Changes to this policy may be announced by posting updates.

Your use of Sponsored Solutions feature shall be governed by the Sponsored Solutions Terms and Conditions.

Product Criteria

The following guidelines detail the restrictions for sale and/or product promotion.

Before using Sponsored Solutions, you have to ensure that your product complies with all applicable laws and regulations, and does not fall within our Prohibited products list. Please check our Prohibited and Controlled Products List.

Products with Restrictions

Sponsored Solutions is a set of powerful tools as Sponsored Search is given preferential visibility in keyword search results. However, not all products are eligible for Sponsored Solutions.

This policy contains guidelines that you must adhere to when promoting the product of your choice. Products that cannot be advertised according to local laws, regulations, and advisories, including product listings that contain false, misleading, or exaggerated statements, are not allowed. Promoted products that do not adhere to our guidelines will be removed and sellers will receive non-compliance
points as per our
Inappropriate & Misleading Product Policy and Prohibited and Controlled Products Policy.

In determining whether listings or information should be removed from the Lazada website, we consider the overall content of the posting, including images, pictorials, and text.

1. Adult Content

Products that contain adult content as set out under item 2 of the Prohibited and Controlled Products Policy are not eligible for Sponsored Solutions. Examples of such products include, but are not limited to Sex Toys and Sex Dolls.

2. Alcohol

Alcohol-related products e.g. beer, are eligible for Sponsored Solutions. However, the product listings for alcohol must be kept plain and consist of only the product itself. Children must not be portrayed in any alcohol-related product listing. The product listing should also not encourage over-indulgence and excessive consumption, or give the impression that drinking is recommended for the intoxicating effect, or social success and acceptance.

You shall likewise comply with guidelines for alcohol-related products which may be issued by and notified to you by Lazada from time to time.

3. Food

Food and food supplements are allowed on Lazada provided that the product complies with all applicable laws, all regulatory licensing requirements, and the other provisions of this policy. For food supplements with medicinal properties, seller must comply with all requirements, including product registration/notification and/or license if necessary, of the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA). Promotion of Infant Formula (0 to 24 months), whether individually or in a bundle with other products, is strictly not allowed.

4. Cosmetic

Cosmetics are products or substances used externally on the body including face, skin, oral cavity, and hair products. All cosmetic products submitted on Sponsored Solutions must be first notified to FDA. Cosmetic products must not contain any poisons as set
out in relevant FDA regulations.

The following are strictly prohibited:

  1. False, misleading, or exaggerated statements, such as “miraculously”, “World’s best”, is not allowed.

  2. Cosmetics promotions must not contain statements intended to deceive or be unjust to consumers or that may have negative effects on society at large. This includes all statements regarding a product’s place of origin, condition, quality, quantity, or properties. Overclaiming of product features and/or benefits is strictly not allowed.

  3. Any claim that a cosmetic product has a particular physiological effect must be backed by scientific data.

  4. Any other claims that are not allowed include but are not limited to:

    1. any effect that is generally a medical effect e.g. can heal/treat/cure/prevent any
      symptom/disease/pain;

    2. can promote rejuvenation of the skin or muscles or reverse degenerative conditions that arise with increasing age;

    3. that hormones or vitamins will remove or delay the formation of wrinkles ;

    4. can burn fat, dissolve cellulite;

    5. exaggeration on renewal rate of skin cells; and

    6. can enhance any sexual ability.

5. Medical Devices

A medical device is any instrument, tool, mechanical device, or object that is used on human or animal body for laboratory examination, including any product, software, or any other object used for therapy practice, medical practice, medical evaluation, treatment, or similar purposes.

Medical devices are eligible for Sponsored Solutions if such medical devices are registered with the FDA and have obtained all necessary FDA permits and/or licenses.

6. Medicines, Therapeutic Products, Health Supplements

Only FDA registered household medicines for the general public, either modern or traditional, may be promoted on Lazada. There can be no promotion and sale of prescription-only medicines. Medicines and therapeutic products must be registered with FDA before they can be sold.

All product description pages for medicines, therapeutic products, and health supplements should not, among others:

  1. Make misrepresentations;

  2. Make comparative claims against another product or brand;

  3. Make exaggerations;

  4. Suggest guaranteed results and no side effects;

  5. Include testimonies;

  6. Use FDA’s or any other professional groups’ logos; and

  7. Allow refunds.

For medicinal products, there should not be sales promotions, such as offering products free of charge with the purchase or giving of samples.

7. E-Cigarette

Sellers should have BIR permit number (and DTI if applicable) visible on the seller's store page. The store page must also include the relevant warnings related to Republic Act no. 11900.

SKU images should also show the 18+ warning, with relevant government warnings regarding the addictive nature of nicotine and should not undermine warnings to quit smoking.

Listings must be categorized properly under Smart Devices > Gadgets > Electronic Cigarettes.

No IP Infringement allowed

Please take note that any unauthorized usage of a third party’s advertisement material and/or image (including Trademarks) for Sponsored Solutions is also considered an infringement of intellectual property rights. Such products will be removed and sellers may be issued non-compliance points as per our Intellectual Property Rights Infringement Policy.
